from Still to Street
where contrasts collide & creativity thrives
The Embodied Artist’s Still to Street workshop; Where editorial vision meets the energy of the everyday
What we will be covering…..
In this dynamic workshop, we’ll explore the art of editorial-style portraiture from controlled studio settings to the unpredictability of the streets. You’ll learn how to work with both natural and pose with intention, and create visually compelling images that feel elevated, modern, and emotionally resonant. We'll guide you through styling, creative direction, and how to bring a cohesive editorial vision to life.
As we move into the urban landscape, you’ll learn how to adapt quickly to changing environments, use architectural elements and found light to your advantage, and direct subjects with confidence in public spaces. This workshop is about bridging stillness and spontaneity, teaching you to create portraits that are both polished and deeply human, no matter the setting. You'll leave with tools to elevate your work and push your creative boundaries in meaningful ways.
This workshop is designed to expand your creative range and sharpen your artistic voice. You’ll walk away with a deeper understanding of how to craft powerful editorial portraits—both in the quiet control of a studio and the vibrant unpredictability of an urban environment.
You’ll gain confidence in directing your subjects with intention, working with different types of light, and creating cohesive visual narratives that feel both elevated and emotionally grounded. Beyond the technical skills, you’ll leave with renewed creative momentum, fresh perspective, and a portfolio of dynamic work that reflects your growth and style.
Whether you're looking to break into editorial portraiture or simply push the boundaries of your current approach, From Still to Street will give you the tools, inspiration, and support to create with purpose and presence.

details of the workshop:
One full-day workshop in Toronto with Scarlet O’Neill X Theresa Ouimet
two completely polar opposite photo sessions during the workshop; starting with a quiet & thoughtful studio session to the bustling, busy streets of the Leslieville Neighbourhood
the opportunity to create portfolio content, or use the sessions to truly experiment, or both
working hands-on, one-on-one with Scarlet X Theresa during the sessions, where you’ll be encouraged to go deep in creating images, unlike the ones you regularly create.
After each session, there will be a review to discuss the pros, cons, and other things that came up during the session, so that you can learn how to work through that experience if you ever encounter it again, or how to recreate something but go even further or get more creative
think of this like your very own coaching session to provide a crash course in shooting in various conditions with various people, but working through any hiccup, being inspired all throughout, and then walking away with a new sense of self when it comes to photographing in studio and in an urban setting.
